Thermal Conductivity Bars
Summary: This demonstration reinforces Fourier's law. It illustrates the difference in heat flux between bars of identical geometry but different composition. Each bar is exposed to the same hot and cold ends, and the temperature variation is visualized with liquid crystal temperature indicators. The materials that visually respond faster to the imposed temperature difference have a higher thermal conductivity.
